Palpable lumps in the abdomen

Lumps in the abdomen

Bi Gen point only treats the condition. It is at the same level as the inferior border of the 12th thoracic vertebra, 3.5 cun lateral to the lateral to the posterior median line. It is the point useful to treat palpable lumps in the abdomen.

Apply more moxa cones at the left point. When there are lumps both on the left and right side, apply moxa cones at both points.

Another way is to needle the top of the lump with 2.5 cun needling depth and apply 2 x 7 moxa cones. Needle the center of the lump with 1 to 2 cun needling depth and apply 3 x 7 moxa cones. Apply acupuncture needle at the bottom of the lump with 3.5 cun needling depth and apply 7 moxa cones.

Comment from translator

The cun measurements in the modern textbooks show 6 cun for the distance between the medial borders of the scapula. However, Huh Im’s book shows 7 cun for the same distance since it counts 1 cun for the width of the vertebra. Therefore, 3.5 cun is the distance between the posterior median line to the medial border of the scapula. Besides, the modern textbooks show that its location is at the same level as the inferior border of the 1st lumbar bone.
