Gudang protocol for holistic treatment

Acupuncture & moxibustion protocols

Further to the article about the treatment of sequelae of cancer patients with direct moxibustion, here is the protocol for acupuncture and direct scarring moxibustion that Gudang used in his treatments.  No wonder anyone who read the article will be wondering about the points.  I will call his technique “Gudang Acuomoxa therapy” for convenience’ sake.

The needles he uses were 0.20 x 50mm, DBC, Korea.  The depth of needling was 0.5 – 1 cun.  The retention time was about 15 minutes.  The master used perpendicular needling and did not apply manipulation.  There is a certain idea behind his acupuncture needling. According to him, he used thin needles not for stimulation, but for unblocking the obstruction.  I hope to write about it in the future.

There are points for acupuncture needles and moxibustion he always uses regardless of diseases.  I will call them “Gudang protocols.”  There are two different protocols for acupuncture and direct moxibustion.

The acupuncture protocol is:

BL60, BL40, BL23, BL43, SI11, SJ15, GB20, BL10, DU20, LV3, GB34, LI4, LI10, RN12, ST4, GB1, and Yin Tang.

You may skip some of them or add points, depending on the conditions.

The moxa protocol is:

DU20, BL13, BL43, LI11, RN12, ST36, RN6 and RN4 for men, and DU20, BL13, BL43, LI11, RN3, and ST28 for women.

The protocols include the points he found beneficial to all different patients, as a result of his practice experience, which was about 80 years.  The protocols are the foundation on which he added more points according to disease patterns.

There are some merits in Gudang Acumoxa Therapy.  They are easy replication, better outcome with combination of acupuncture and moxibustion, preventive medicine, and so on.  I will go further next time!
